Inclusive Sexual Education

What is the purpose?

The Inclusive Sexual Education Campaign is a student-led advocacy initiative focused on ensuring that all students—regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation—receive comprehensive, medically accurate, and inclusive sexual health education. The campaign recognizes that current sexual education policies are often incomplete, outdated, or exclusionary, and seeks to create systemic change through local school board advocacy and district-level policy reform.

What does the campaign look like?

The ultimate goal of the campaign is to provide students of all gender and sexual identities with a comprehensive education on sexual health that adequately prepares them for real-world encounters and relationships.

The toolkit explains that many existing programs—especially abstinence-only models—withhold critical, life-saving information about:

  • birth control,

  • sexually transmitted infections (STIs),

  • HIV prevention,

  • consent,

  • and healthy relationships.

This disproportionately harms students, especially LGBTQ+ youth, who are often excluded from current curricula and therefore left without the information they need to protect their health and well-being.

The campaign seeks to replace this with inclusive, science-backed, student-centered sexual education.
